A Look Back at the Pre-Season 1 Draft

As we enter the fifth season here at HockLeague, I decided to take a look back at the leagues first draft, to see who were the winners, losers, and biggest surprises.
Interesting finds:
- 5 first round picks failed to grow to 80 overall
- the 3rd best defenseman in the draft was picked 59th overall
- The biggest jump was Buffalo's Sean Durzi, drafted 45 spots behind his current rank
- The biggest drop was Noah Dobson, falling from a top ten pick to an early 2nd rounder.
- The team who had the best draft was Toronto, with a combined +39 in the rankings. Whiffing on Bode Wilde is enough to knock Buffalo out of this spot.
- The team who had the worst draft was New York Rangers, who dropped a combined 77 spots in the rankings.
- three players drafted are no longer in this league. Looks like they were just never added to the teams rosters, and were just forgotten about.
- The player who grew the most from his draft overall was Joe Veleno, gaining 27 overall.
- Jack McBain, Jakub Skarek, and Linus Nyman grew the least, gaining 10 overall.
- Including the forgotten players, slightly over 25% of players drafted are under 80 overall. 11% of drafted players are 90+. About 1/3 of players are 85+
