Here's the latest from around the league on this first day of free agency.
- Connor McDavid has reportedly told EDM management they need to be a bit more aggressive adding talent. Connor is excited about prospects like Bear, Boqvist, Jones, Skinner, & McShane coming up, but they should be joining a playoff team when they arrive.
- Meanwhile Edmonton has been receiving offers on Jesse Puljujarvi but it's unlikely those go anywhere unless it's for an established star winger. - MIN have been listening to offers on Devan Dubnyk, but a market hasn't developed for him as of yet. 2 years remain at a modest 4.3M. My source tells me MIN is okay keeping him this season, as rookie sensation Kaapo Kahkonen will likely need another season
- The Atlantic Division have been players early on in Free Agency. Matt Duchene going to NYI, Artemi Panarin going to PHI, and PIT adding wingers for Crosby and Malkin. Also hearing one of those teams have a blockbuster in the works.
- We know NYI has been discussing Shea Weber with various teams. Ideally want to move him out west, but a couple eastern teams have inquired and may be front runner
- Another name that could be available is Mikko Koivu. He came to NYI from TOR in the John Tavares deal. With Matt Duchene signing in NYI, we could see Koivu flipped to another team.

Some Other Tidbits.
- Niklas Hjalmarsson, Semyon Varlamov and Ian Cole are among the most demanded available free agents. Any teams involved might want to consider raising their offers to get a leg up.
- Keith Yandle, Jacob Markstrom, Michael Ferland are among players who may begin looking for overseas contracts. Keith Yandle wants to be with a competitive NHL team, and he's expect offers to come in now that the prized defensemen has signed..... Stephen Johns
- Gustav Nyquist, Derrick Brassard, are among players that have received interest, but the offers aren't up to their standards.
