What are your thoughts on introducing COACHES?

Noticed only Cook touches strategies, and they extremely influential for success or failure. Think a lot of GMs just don't want to put in the work of switching them constantly or may just be unfamiliar with the systems.

So what if we brought in real life COACHES that have a GRADE & STRATEGY associated with them (kinda like NHL 20)

We could start off with every team having their real life coach. We would also have a real life UFA COACH LIST with contract rules set to a min/max of 1-3 years so there no harbouring of an elite coach.

There will be NO salary associated w/COACH CONTRACT, only term. (WE COULD REVISIT THIS AND HAVE COACHES GO TOWARDS CAP BUT DOUBT THAT IS POPULAR)

COACHES will sign with teams that have players with the most similar styles.(ie. 'VETERAN' style COACH will sign with teams with older players)

Would be cool to see in house coaching changes during the season while adding another component for GMs, especially by having real life COACH names to add authenticity.

COACH UFA info could look something like:

Coach Mike Babcock - B Veterans (56)

'B' is his GRADE while 'Veterans' is the STRATEGY he is associated with..

COACH info when signed:

Coach Mike Babcock - B Veterans UFA 2022 (56)

Could play around with it until we get it right too & will make a full thread stating all COACH STRATEGIES if this passes, so GMs always have reference when signing/firing.

*we could implement this immediately or wait until off-season, whatever GMS prefer*

OPTIONS

A) YES, COACHES WILL ADD A NEW DYNAMIC

B) NO, I DON'T CARE ABOUT STRATEGIES

The only thing I wish for is shots on goal posted lol. That would let me know more about how my strategies were working

Guys barely can keep there rosters updated. It’s a cool idea I just am not interested in doing it. If it keeps guys more active then ya but hopefully we can have an opt in or opt out if it goes through

It would be mandatory and something that doesn't take much effort at all. You could sign a coach once every 3 seasons, which doesn't take much focus. If your team chemistry is off, you can make a coaching change rather than rotating out all your assets that you've tried to develop.

I think it's a great idea that will have a significant impact on team performance and add another authentic component.

That's just me though, I always like to grow and never stay stagnant. Some people thrive off stagnancy and guess that's okay.

You do realize that I sim 1,271 games each season within a 21 day period in real life?

That means I would have to input 2,542 shot results each regular season.

You mentioned not even a week ago that you are surprised I'm not crazy already with the amount of work I put in.

Thats way more work and a waste of my time. So I am giving you options that don't deplete my life and still give you authentic control over team performance.

It is just one of those things that I would like. I did when I simmed doesn't mean you have to do it lol. Just relax and do what you do

Just don't make coaches count against the cap. I really don't want anymore in-depth process, it's already a lot to deal with annually between the cap and the upgrades and downgrades and player development.

We will trial run with them for the next season and if it works the way its intended, then we will keep them moving forward. Thanks for all the input
