To C Jonathan Toews TWF 89 $10,500,000 UFA 2023 (31) To C Radek Faska TWF 83 - 2.2M RFA 2020 (25) C Ryan Suzuki PLY 70 - 2.0M RFA 2022 (18) Toews allows DAL to move Cozens back to RW as a SNP and maximize his development alongside Benn. (DAL still has Zaitsev to develop @ C so Suzuki is expendable) DAL happily Accepts Tampa Bay Lightning GM

I reject. Toews, with his contract and age should have almost near negative value when looking at a non-Gm deal. Dallas also isn't a position where Toews will make them competitive again.
Their trade block also states their wants:
-TOP 6 RW (84++) (29>) -> (Preferably RH) -TOP 4 D (84++) (28>) -> (Preferably LD) -BLUE CHIP PROSPECTS
Which this doesn't address.

Yes a top 6 RW will be Cozens when the Stars move him back to RW. By adding Toews, they are able to replace Seguin without giving up their picks or top prospects. On top of that, if they resigned Seguin he'd be getting more money than Toews is currently being paid and Dallas would have ended up with the kind of contract Toews has now (older player). If they haven Seguin an 8 year deal (the most likely option) Seguin would have been 31 with 4 years left on his deal like Toews is now.

I’d like this a whole lot more if Buffalo was retaining even 2M. That way that contract doesn’t look so nasty to a new gm.

While Suzuki has high potential, this still is Jonathan Toews we are talking about, and pairing him up with Benn and Cozens should make the departure of Seguin much easier to handle. Toews acquisition allows not only Cozens position to change, but allows DAL to bring in a 2nd line C in Czarnik (FA) to fill the 2nd role between Fiala-Ritche, adding a catalyst to fully development the main prospects in DAL system. DAL has almost 13M in space, this move should hardly affect them since his hit expires in 2023.

If we're at 3 and 3 for a non-GM trade then it should be rejected. Hate it but it should be a landslide of acceptances for the non-GM team.
