He gets out of Khudobin’s contract and clears out 8M in cap space for this season and 3.333M for next season and the season after and all he gives up is Stranges. I feel if it was anybody but Stars I could get more in return for that cap space but I like Stranges irl cause of how he skates so I’m fine with this deal. |

Personally, I don't see how you're doing him a favour by taking Khudobin, he's not a negative value player. That contract isn't that bad for a 1b goalie. And as others have pointed out, he still has a free buyout.

Brossoit is the only actual piece coming back to Dallas, but he does get to dump 2 bad contracts, and Khudobin's isn't great either for a backup. I think that is worth sending a 4th round pick in Stranges back. I think if Stranges was any player type other than a SNP it would be an accept, but Dallas now has cap space to make moves and perhaps gain a prospect just by having someone dump a B/O contract on him.
That's why I accepted.

I'm just not getting why Dallas needs to dump 3 contracts before using his CBO, especially Khudobin. That contract isn't bad. If Dallas CBO's Faksa or Cogliano and then dumps Johns which he can easily do then he's fine. Maybe he's planning on using his CBO as a trade piece? But it seems pretty late for that, I think everyone has already had their contract situations dealt with for the most part.
