It is with a heavy heart that the New York Rangers place G Henrik Lundqvist HYB 84 - $8.500M UFA 2021 (38) on waivers for the purposes of buyout, at a $2.125M cost to the team if cleared.
Henrik has been a consummate professional during his tenure with our organization, up to, and including, our current re-tooling process, and we feel it's no longer fair to him to hold him here any longer. The Rangers wish him all the best, and he will always be revered both in this city and our organization for everything he has done in the community and for the Rangers organization. He will be missed, but we feel this is best for him and our organization moving forward.
