Moving out a lot of young pieces but bringing in Doughty to Toronto was something I could not pass up on.

Woof I thought I was lowballing trying to get Doughty lol but this isn’t very good. Paying that much cap and upgrading Galchenyuk lol idk seems terrible even if that wasn’t involved. But I was trying hard for Doughty so I’ll just say that and stay out of it lol

In fairness, Pesce is better contract than Risto and otherwise comparable, and you wouldn’t move D prospect. In this deal I get 2 good D prospects +KapJohnsson. I don’t care about Galchenyuk at all.

5.5M for the duration of Doughty's contract seems way too excessive...

Do people not value Sandin at all? I feel like I’m missing something. This is 2nd deal I’ve tried to pull for Sandin and everybody keeps saying I’m getting ripped off, but I don’t see anyone else offering a player like that, in a deal like this. It’s all well and good to deny stuff to prevent people from getting taken advantage of, but I feel a little slighted. I pulled out of another deal with Doughty that I really liked because of fear of it getting denied. I like this one too.

I think the return is good. I like the trade for both teams, I just think the retention is way too long. I'd suggest 3-4 years MAX.
But if LA is good with it, then I'm good with it.

I gotta reject. Doughty at 5.5M is worth more.
Kings is getting ripped off. Those players and prospects are alright, but not one of them is A grade. If sandin was a 78 at 18 maybe, but he’s already 20, and upgrades from now on depend on performance. Kap and johnson are meh. D man coming back is a decent piece but not for a 50% salty doughty.

Not really when you factor in the 5.5 you’re retaining on Doughty lol at least I wasn’t allowing you to do that even though you kept saying you would. Plus Risto > Pesce imo only difference is you’re getting a few extra players that would have to perform to even be worth anything. And also Joubran only way to work was the 5.5 but you’re willing to take Galchenyuk lol 4.5?

I couldn't have Pesce on RD playing 3rd line so I had to move him for somebody and Galch was the only really real option to do so.

And I’m just saying this not because I want to backdoor Leafs I just don’t want kings to get ripped. I even told him in our negotiations he can ask sens wild or Canucks if what I’m offering is good or bad. But we couldn’t come to an agreement anyway

I pulled out of another deal with Doughty that I really liked because of fear of it getting denied. I like this one too. Nah its not a bad deal for value - its the retention that is way too long If you are paying 5.5M for Doughty to leave LAK - then you might as well apply that same hit to Pesce since he is filling Doughty's role - meaning you are paying 9.525M to play Pesce over Doughty - Pesce is 86 while Doughty is 91 ...then add 3 more years after Pesce deal expires before Doughty retention is done too... Get the players are going to add value to the direction you are in, yet those same young players are going to want to be paid once they develop & if you are carrying 5.5M hit to 2027, you are going to have a hard time keeping all the guys you want to develop. The player value is sorta fair, the retention is not. I'd ACCEPT it if the retention was no longer than 2023.
