I know a lot of trades are getting rejected and I know it’s pissing some people off. I just want to throw a few things out there. 1. There’s a lot of newbs here now which is great. Now seems like a few vets are taking advantage of them to each their own. 2. Minnesota Wild GM great job as usual. Just a quick question anyway you’d be willing to quick sim a season and just do upgrades/downgrades for one team say like Vancouver or Arizoma or a team with a good mix of young and old just to show everyone how the upgrades/downgrades work? Obviously with no scores and stats just a quick sim. 3. Back to point 1 if any of the new guys have any questions on trades ask the admins there all good guys other than Vancouver Canucks GM because he won’t trade me Hughes or Demko cheap 4.Leafs suck 5. I hate rejecting trades because I know a lot of people go back and forth but I don’t like seeing people get ripped

Yeah, when I reject a trade I'm not doing it to micromanage anyone. I'm just seeing the "vets" getting the better end of a deal. For the newer guys, this isn't a slight against you, there's quite a few different things in this league (and sim leagues for anyone who hasn't been involved previously) that you may regret a few years down the road.
If it's two vets or two newer guys doing a trade, I'm more ambivalent but a vet and a rookie, I'm just trying to make sure they don't do something they regret and quite a day later.

2 -> Not that it isn't a good idea but its just a lot of extra work for me right now when we have UFA coming up tomorrow and the real season starting on Saturday
Experience is going to be the best teacher for these new guys - when I joined a sim leagues 3 years ago for the firs time, it took me about a season or two before I started understanding what direction I should be taking & where value resonates, not only with the development system but with GMs as well.
All these guys seem like quick learners so I don't mind giving the benefit of the doubt to them, yet not going to let something unfair happen either.
5 - I hate rejecting trades too - especially ones due to retention cause I am always asking for retention in trades... yet I know a couple regrets in my first couple sim league seasons w/trades & no one protected my interests.
We have UFA coming up & feel like a lot of these guys think they can land some top end talent, so the market will be shifting once again after the UFA storm passes.

I’m going to post the same thing I did in the chat box.
Obviously I’m new here, and I get that there might be some stuff I’m not seeing the full picture on. Value is set by the Market. Not what you THINK you SHOULD get. I think it’s a lot easier for other GMs, who haven’t been involved in the back and forth discussions, to reject and say to themselves “that’s crazy, I would’ve given more”. But the reality is, they didn’t or won’t. Because they value THEIR assets differently.

Let me make my own regrets, and let experience be my teacher I do appreciate people looking out for the noobs like me. Because I would imagine there’s some worry that people make rash decisions, regret their choices and bail. So for the long term health of the league it makes sense to look out for that. I will say this. That’s not me. I’ll just have more fun with guys I like, wether my team sucks or not. I also understand it from the perspective of you guys don’t want to get screwed with your teams because you feel like an experienced GM is getting an advantage over EVERYONE by screwing a new GM. So I’ll defer to you guys. I’ve said my perspective on it.

It’s also not your own regrets it’s gifting the best dman in the league for a low return. Which screws the rest of the league also lol

I tend not to vote on trades I don't understand, leave it to the veteran GMs. At least not until I get a better grasp on player valuation.

Especially the offers once Kadri was gone.

Every time you agreed to a deal I said to ask an admin and said not to do half of Doughtys salary just 3.0 because that’s cheap and I didn’t want you to get screwed. And my deal is comparable to leafs anyway lol. Just however you value Risto or Pesce. And I gave up after my last offer and I told you that then you made the leafs deal. Seems like I’m trying to help you but you’re pissed at me lol

I just think it’s funny that some of the GMs bitching about the trade returns, are the same ones not operating in good faith on the other side. It’s all well and good to say you’re looking out, but then offer a fair return. You admit you didn’t. So, if you’re all not offering fair returns, but then rejecting the trades I do accept, wtf does that leave me? You just want me to accept YOUR shitty return. I get it. We’d all want that, lol

I'm just gonna keep thinking y'all are just terrified of me adding Doughty to an already stacked roster and thus won't let any trade for him through. Keeps me somewhat sane.

I mean, I get it. A top line of Tavares-Matthews-Marner is already not fair. Then I'd have a top four of Rielly-Doughty, Muzzin-Barrie. Damn, I'd be scared too.

You wanted Kadri Nichuskin picks and a prospect of something like that while paying half of Doughty contract at first. Then a bunch of other offers happened which we couldn’t agree upon and then I moved on. I haven’t even made an offer since that on Doughty even with your trade being rejected.
