Player Rep and Old Greg like this
Post by Nashville Predators GM on Aug 24, 2020 13:55:40 GMT -5
This site may SEEM like a lot of work but like any job or hobby, it seems complicated at first until you get the hang of it and it becomes so easy, your grandma could even do it. The neat thing about this site is you really are in control and in charge. It's not just a sim league but a real GM experience. And if you think that's lame then why are you even a hockey fan?

The bare bones of what you need to do to maintain a team and your spot here:
- PM = Private Message. PR = Player Rep
- You need to make sure you can ice an NHL squad (12 F / 6 D / 2 G minimum) that is CAP compliant. If you're over the cap, you're doing a bad job.
- Keep your roster updated. You do this on your teams page. YOU ARE responsible at updating this AT ALL times. If you make a trade, EDIT and UPDATE your roster to reflect the new players on your team. If you WAIVE someone, you need to UPDATE your roster. If you make ANY roster moves (trades or waivers) update your CAP situation.
- Ensure your AHL roster is up to date and also follows the same rules ( 12 F / 6 D / 2 G).
- Make sure you have a coach.
- READ and RESPOND to PM's. People will private message you asking about players. They want to trade. Maybe you want to trade? This is generally how many of us communicate. Discord is another option. Reading but NOT responding to PM's is a KAREN thing to do. Don't do it. If you don't want to trade a player, say you're not interested. Nobody will be mad at you. If you want to ask or send trade offers, PM another GM. No harm, no foul.
- Any PM's from PLAYER REP are IMPORTANT. Read them.
If you keep your roster up to date, you're pretty much golden.

Every Off-season you must do this:
- There will be an announcement for things called "position changes," "Amateur Upgrades" and "Major player upgrades." The really neat thing is YOU are in CHARGE of your team to the point that you can upgrade some players overalls and change their typing. It's like FREE development. You really are in control of your team.
- UPDATE your roster. Who is a pending free agent? Put them at the top of your roster. By now, BASED on your TEAMS performance, some players will have UPGRADED or DOWNGRADED. Your players AGE has also gone up. Update the AGES (+1). Update your roster with the new ratings. There will be an ANNOUNCEMENT and a PM, don't worry. You'll see it.
- If you need to negotiate NEW deals for your players, send a PM to Player Rep. You have the chance to keep your players.
- Gear up for Free Agency. You will be PM'ing the Player Rep your offers on Free Agents. Don't worry, there will be an official list for you to see who is available and then you will PM him. Look at for a PM from Player Rep on how to do this.
- Don't forget to make sure your roster is UPDATED. CAP COMPLIANT. FOLLOWS the rules (12 F / 6 D / 2G).
- There's gonna be a draft. Do you have any picks? Select your new rising star. Or bust.

FAQ:
"I'm lost. What should I do?"
Ask the chat box. We will help you. You don't know where the Amateur upgrades post it? Ask. We will give you the link. You can't find where to post a trade? Ask, we will show you. You don't know if your players got upgraded. Ask. We will tell you.
"I just made a trade over PM/discord. What do I do?"
Did you decide who will post the trade? If you are not the one posting the trade then you need to REPLY and say "accept" or else we don't know if you want to do the trade.
"I see a bunch of trades that are posted. What should I do?"
Do you think they're fair? We ALL get to review trades. This is to prevent CHEATING. If a trade is fair or kinda fair, we just press "like" as a way to moderate the trades.
*Note, you do NOT like your own trades.
"Why am I here?"
We figure you like hockey a little more than normal. Maybe you aspire to be a GM. Maybe you're bored. Maybe you just want to pass the time. Either way, you probably like hockey more than your coworker Jim who thinks Mitch Marner plays Defense and Wayne Gretzky still plays in the league.
