Oh boy, this looks reminiscent lol. I know what WSH is trying to do, but I don’t like this deal for him. I really think Pulujarvi should at least be a part of this. Should interesting to see others thoughts

He is only guaranteed -1 & he will have to put up 45G or 94PTS to remain at 90 - so its interesting for sure Exactly, at best he'll be an 89 by the end of his contract, could be even worse. Robertson is a young, growing player, Johnsson is a decent replacement for now and he gets multiple 1sts and a 2nd. I get people don't value picks as they should but Ovi is only getting worse from here. |

Dudes a 91 for 5M for 3 years. I just think he’s worth a lot more than he’s getting. I don’t see how a potential age related downgrade from 91 to 90 brings down the value that much. He’s not signed long term. At the worst you’re probably looking at an 88 when he’s a FA. Not to mention he’s the most prolific goal scorer probably ever. Add Pulujarvi and Sandin instead of Robertson and Johnsson and Id approve. Just sayin

Just let the league decide, we can't predict the future so you don't know if Ovi will win a Rocket, Hart, Ted Lindsay or Conn Smyth in TOR too which would boost him higher than he is now even with a -1 auto downgrade, all while being paid 50%. Possibilities are endless here cause Robertsson might not be better than 82, Johnsson may stay his OA, while Abramov has no value unless APU are spent on him in offseasons and those picks could be Stanley cup or Final picks, making them 30/31...so lets not play "what could happen" cause it goes either way. |

I have to agree with my compatriots here cuz while Ovi is in his "downgrade" phase of his career, he is still over 90, and the only thing that you can guarantee right now is -1 next off-season. That's it. Cuz, as PR alluded to, there are variables in which a player that's "declining" can actually come out of an off-season with an upgrade, particularly star players such as Mr. Ovi here.
It's honestly about time that folks realize that the -1 mandatory downgrades, as ridiculous as I think they are, aren't a death sentence to many players 32+, and doesn't really get too damaging until players drop below 84-85 on larger contracts. Plus, anyone that tries to say that Ovi has some sort of "negative value" at this point, is completely out to lunch.

It’s 7 OA from Johnson to Ovi. Robertson and 2 firsts have to make up that difference. I don’t particularly like this trade, nor would I make this deal if I was Washington, but I do believe the value is there. Also hate how tight mods are becoming. Don’t know that it’s gonna help, but I accept.
